Types of schools starting with A

Aboriginal School (1880-1968)

An elementary school dating from 1880 in which the enrolment was mainly Aboriginal children. Most Aboriginal Schools were Provisional Schools and were staffed until the 1940s or 1950s by untrained teachers. In 1968 the few remaining Aboriginal Schools were converted into ordinary Public Schools.
