Travelling School (1908-1949)

A school similar to a House to House School catering for small, scattered groups of children. There were only three such schools, the first opening in 1908 and the last closing in 1949. The early teachers used a horse-drawn van which served if necessary as the schoolroom, but the later teachers used their vehicles only as their means of transport, teaching in the various houses in exactly the same manner as house to house teachers had done.
